Robert Lee "Bob" or "Possum" Messer, age 70 passed away on Friday, April 8, 2022 at home with his wife Brenda of 38 years by his side. Bob was born January 14, 1952 to Lewis and Helen Messer. He was an Olathe High School graduate. After graduation, he went into the United States Army for six years. Bob was a member of the Cement Masons Union Local 518. Bob was an avid trap shooter and golfer. He enjoyed hunting deer, ducks, doves, pheasant, turkey, raccoon and mushrooms, as well as fishing from his boat for hours on end.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Brenda; sons Travis and Jeremy Graves; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers Sam and Lynn and many more relatives and friends. Bob was a good ol' boy and will be sorely missed by all who loved him. Rest in Peace Possum!
A memorial service for Bob will be held Monday, April 25 at 12:00 PM at McGilley & George Funeral Home, 12913 Grandview Road, Grandview, Missouri. Following the memorial service will be an inurnment with military honors at 2:30 PM at Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Rd., Leavenworth, Kansas.
