Patricia Patsy Ann Nelson

Patricia (Patsy) Riordan Van Hecke Nelson, 73, passed Friday, June 4, 2010, at home surrounded by her family. She was a lifelong resident of the Kansas City area and graduated from Bishop Hogan High School. She worked for the IRS for 31 years and was a member of St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church. Patsy was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome (Jerry) Nelson; parents, George and Josephine Riordan; a brother, George Jr.; a sister, Barbara DeLorenzi. She is survived by her children, Dorothy (Earl) Monsour of Gilbert, Ariz., Larry (Rose) Van Hecke of Kansas City, Mo., Lynn Golden and Debbie Avery, both of Grandview, Mo.; and sister. Mary Jo Villar of Independence, Mo. She leaves 15 grandchildren, Brian, Laurie, Christina, Nicholas, Dominic, Ryan, Joshua, Nicole, Alex, Elaine, Elizabeth, Zachary, Matthew, Kyle, and Luke; nine great-grandchildren, Joshua, Megan, Eric, Christopher, Rachel, Jake, Ryan, Milani, and Carter, all of whom she loved very much. Visitation 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 11, at St. Matthew the Apostle Church, 8001 E. Longview Road, Kansas City. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 12, at the church with burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery following the Mass.
