Norman David Rifenburg went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 7, 2018, at the VA Hospital in Kansas City, MO. He was 63 years old. Norman was proceeded in death by his parents, Norman Wade and June Anne (Green) Rifenburg. He is survived by his wife Barbara Jane Rifenburg, his children; Marie Hilda Johnson (Andre), Norman Jason (Stephanie), David Adam (Amanda), and Joseph Andrew (Emily), and 13 grandchildren.
Norman David was born January 24, 1955 in Charleston, South Carolina. He was proud to be the 4th generation of Norman Rifenburgs, each having a different middle name. This middle name tradition has now been passed down for two more generations. Norman was raised travelling the country to many Air Force bases, as his dad’s career was the Air Force. Once his dad was retired in 1971 they settled down in Grandview, MO where Norman David graduated from Grandview High and joined the Marines.
In 1980 Norman David was given an honorable medical discharge due to a car accident that shredded his left knee. After returning home he continued his education and then worked as a mechanic for over 20 years, until his health forced him to retire.
He married Barbara Jane (Lute Baker) on June 25, 1983. They first resided in Raymore, MO, until they moved to Raytown, MO in 1996, and finally retiring to Oak Grove, MO in 2005.
He spent most of his life working with the church, caring for the church buses and the pastors’ vehicles and many other jobs that needed to be done around the church. When his boys were younger he worked with the Royal Rangers. His favorite past time with the Royal Rangers was building the cars for the derby races.
Norman David loved to talk. He could talk to anyone about anything. He could talk to strangers that he had just met as if he had known them for years. But, his favorite things to talk about was cars and how to fix them.
Norman David also loved to watch movies; especially war/history, and he loved food. His favorite food was tacos and Chinese.
His family would like to thank all of his family and friends for all of the love, support, and their listening ears that you have given him and his family throughout the years. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.mcgilleygeorgegrandview.com for the Rifenburg family.
