Grandview, MO.
The world has lost a remarkable man. Jim was a hero, a fighter, a survivor, a husband, and a father. He touched all lives he encountered and will be dearly missed. He is survived by his wife Jane, daughters Linda and Nicky, and siblings Mary Margaret and Ronny. He is preceded by his parents Vance and Marion Rose, and siblings Frank, Jeanette, and Donny.
Jim lived a full and fascinating life. Raised near Ridgely, TN on a farm along the banks of the Mississippi River. He spent his childhood working the farm and helping to raise the younger children of the household. Upon graduating high school in 1963 he joined the Air Force and began travelling the world working within the Security Service Command. Jim served our country for 20 and a half years, retiring in 1984.
The family moved to Grandview, MO to be near Jane’s family. Jim obtained a degree in Management/Computer Information Systems from Park College. He then worked for the Marine Corp finance office as a civilian software developer until his retirement in 2005. He spent his retired years travelling the country with Jane in their motorhome. Together they saw and experienced so much of our beautiful country and always made sure to stop and visit with family and friends along the way. They spent most winters away from the cold of Missouri and sought the warmer weather of the south Texas coast and southern Arizona.
In accordance with Jim’s wishes, his family will be hosting a Celebration of Life party for family, friends, and coworkers at the Jack's Stack Private Dining Center at 13645 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, MO on Sunday, May 29th from 5:00-8:30pm. The family requests instead of flowers that a donation be made in Jim’s honor to the Disabled American Veterans. Condolences may be left for the family at www.mcgilleygeorgegrandview.com Arr. by McGilley & George Funeral Home Grandview, MO (816-966-0250)
