Jean Ann Potter

Jean Potter, age 97, passed away May 26, 2023. She was born and raised in Elizabeth, New Jersey. after all these years, she still had that New Jersey accent. Her mother died when she was very young. She had to work and care for her family early in life. Jean married Thomas M. Potter on her 21st birthday. Shortly thereafter, they moved to the Jersey Shore. They lived there until Jean turned 60. Then she and her husband retired to Florida and learned to play golf.

Jean was a hard worker all her life. She was like a “Rosey the Riverter”. She wore many hats. She was a model in New York City, a cinema manager, and a Real Estate agent to name a few. Her two biggest accomplishments were being happily married for 67 years and properly raising her two adopted children, Tommy and Lisa.

Jean was a resident at Strafford Care Center. During that time, she enjoyed keeping busy. She loved playing Bingo, bus outings, Red Hatters, singing and participating in many other activities. She was resident of the month, May of 2021. Most recently, she enjoyed flower planting in their raised garden. Jean also enjoyed getting cards from her good friend, Sandy McGuire, who still lives in New Jersey and kept her updated.
