I will never Forget freshman year at Assumption highschool in East St. Louis Illinois,  In 1979 We were a very talented basketball  team, Foz Ryan said that we were the first freshman team to score over 80 points in a game vs  king  JR High, we had one more game left that year, Tony and the rest of us we’re frustrated because we  had only won one game that year,  it was the   last game of the season, it was Tony’s  idea That we get a bottle of champagne to celebrate on the bus, on the way back from the game, we beat Highland freshman team., I will never forget the ride back to East St. Louis on the team  bus passing the bottle around, It felt like we won a state championship,  Also Holy  Angels vs St Patrick  was unforgettable, RIP TB AND DB  

You will be dearly missed, Coach. I’ll never forget you calling us the Arkansas girls because you couldn’t remember our names for the longest when we played for you. Thank you for everything! 

Coach Berry you were a great coach and ill forever be grateful to have meet you and your family thank you for everything   .. Rest In Peace 🙏🏽

Tony Berry has been a very important person in our lives.  He always made Jaxson & I know he cared.  He was kind and forgiving and demonstrated true loyalty to those he truly loved,   The one thing I have learned from this great loss is never to wait to apologize or mend fences... He was a true unconditional friend, I am just so sorry I wasn’t more like him.  We have been so very blessed to know him and call him our true friend.    We extend our love and sympathy  to his sister, and mama Dee, Jada, Ty and Tevin &  all his amazing friends and family.  May he Rest In Peace over us.

When I think back over my  life on 37th St.  I remember Tony and Derek running around and playing.  I remember how they were mischievous at times.  I remember how repectful Tony was when he came in contact with adluts.   I remember Tony's SMILE and how it lit up a room.  When I think about Tony, I can only smile myself.

The Patrick Family would like to say we are sorry about your loss. I had the opportunity to spend many great years with Tony coaching my son, Justin.  He was a mentor, coach, friend, and dad to many of the boys on the Crunch Team.  Without Tony, the Team would not of traveled all across the country playing basketball.  The last time I seen Tony was at one of Ty's games at Sunrise, always with a smile and ready to greet.  To Nicole, Tevin, Jada, and Ty , your dad always talked about how proud he was of all of you, please continue to stick together and keep the Berry Bond.

I first met Tony as a competitor playing Parochial basketball at St. Joseph against St. Patrick where Tony was a gifted athlete.  We was in the same freshman home room in Room 222.   I remember his humor and friendly personality with the class of 82. I played with him on the football team when he was All State defensive back and wide receiver and I was his backup on the second string.  He was a great team captain in football and basketball.  He was also a great host when me and Jeff Powell went to Lawrence on our spring break to watch KU basketball team go to Final Four in 1991.  He always had wide grining smile that will be missed.

Matthew 25:40 says when you have done it to the least of these you've done it into me....when dark times where on my life toney took me in for a couple of days ..He didn't judge me and only saw the good in me ..that was Christ like to the fullest ...I never forgot that .

Rest In Peace, my brother.  Tony and I spent time together on the football field and basketball court.  He and DB were the best athletes around.  They pushed all to get better, and both were always supportive.  I saw Tony in the late 80’s when we both were returning to ESL from college.  We reconnected when I moved to Overland Park in the early 2000s.  It was great to spend time with him and his family, particularly after Derek’s passing. Dear Berry/Smith Family,

My condolences and prayers to your families. To the Berry kids, your dad took care of and looked out for so many—so it’s only right that we be there for you as well. TB brought so many of us together and made living in Lawrence, KS..fun! “Go Crunchberries!”This is tough....rest in peace “TB!”

From little league, the neighborhood, high school, college, getting married, raising families... Tony was always bigger than life. So many memories come to mind. Knowing Tony gave me joy... always has and always will. My heart breaks for Dee, Lynn, the kids, and all of Tony’s close family and friends. 
We struggle now; but at some point we will smile because we knew him  more than we cry because we lost him.  I love you Tony.

I post this note with a very heavy heart.  Tony and I were  childhood friends.  I enjoyed playing football, baseball / cork ball, basketball  and eletroninc football games with him.  Me, Tony and the crew, have great memomries growing up on 37th street.  Tony was an outstanding athelete.  Tony kept a trick or two up his sleeve, so you had to keep an eye on him.  😆   Tony would talk about you real bad, so you learned to have thick skin.  
Tony, and I reconnected in December 2020, after I learned his son was playing basketball for Northwestern U.  We had plans to hook when Tony came to visit Ty.  GOD had a different plan. 
Tony CONGRATULATIONS , you have finished the race, you have went from Labor to REWARD.  I know the our GOD has said " Well done good and Faithful Servant"!

Tony I was very sad when I got the news of your passing today. We had some great times at KU and throughout the years I loved hearing your updates about your kids who you adored and who meant the world to you. My heart hurts for them and for your mom. I know God doesn’t make any mistakes, so while this is a tragic loss for many, I know you will be shining down on all your family and friends. Please give Derek a big hug and kiss for me.          was a very good friend to me. I met TB thru softball. Where he sponsored several teams that I played on. His smile was contagious. He was very proud of all of his children. We talked about all of you. I live in Columbus Ohio. The last time we spoke he talked about getting together while he was in town for Ty basketball game against my Buckeyes. Due to all the covid stuff a lot of things have changed. TB was very good to me. I'm glad I met him. So sorry for your families loss.

I remember Tony and his brother Derek vividly on football field At Assumption High School. Tony was one of the outstanding players on the Varsity squad. A natural leader, a skilled player and best of all, profounded team player. 
Played to the best of his ability, which was flawless. And a support to the rest of the team. Whenever a player was down, Tony was always there to get your spirit back in the game. It was and honor and a privilege to play on the same team.

I attended Assumption High School with Tony. I was a classmate and very close friend to Derek. Tony was always our hero! Tony seemed to have everything at his fingertips and it was all so easy! He was a great student, a great athlete, popular in the community and known throughout the Metro East area! This is  a life Gone Too Soon! From playing cards and cracking jokes on each other, to playing sports and showing us how to just be a all-around good guy. I am shocked and I will miss you but will never forget you!

I've known TB and his brother since they were freshmen in college.  He was a great athlete and a wonderful guy.  We had a lot of good times and good memories. Peace be with you. Love you always.

First met Tony my freshman year in  1984.  Tony was full of life and gregarious.  He was a loyal guy and always stood up for his friends. Even though he was on the football team, he wanted to be on the hoop squad and hung out with and played with us every chance he got. Dude was funny as all get out! He could make anyone laugh and was a natural comic. Most of all, he had a good heart and was just a good human being.  I haven’t seen him in a long time, but my memories of Tony will carry on. My condolences to the family.
