Ward Thomas Blanchard age 93, of Comstock Park, passed away peacefully in his home in the company of family on January 28, 2016. He was born in Arcadia, MI in the summer of 1922 to Alva & Emma Blanchard. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wives, Dorothy and Lola; a daughter, Barbara Antor; son-in-law, Jim Antor; grandson, Stephen Vandermeer, sisters; Pat (Ward) Hopkins, Geneva (Ed) Priester, and Bertha (Orville) Ramey. Surviving are his son Kenneth (Annette) Blanchard; grandchildren, Kevin (Cindy) Blanchard, Linda (Gary) Blandford, David (Lori) Blanchard, Michael (Tami) Vandermeer, Michelle (Mike) Hopkins, and Ronald (Kay) Vandermeer; 13 great-grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren; and his 100% best friend ever, Gary Parker. Ward was an avid snowmobiler and motorcyclist, a MRRA member and was a Merchant Marine from 1941 to 1946. He retired from APV Baker Inc. after 30 devoted years. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February 1, 2016 at Reyers North Valley Chapel. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service starting at 10:00 am.
