Sharon Joy Hendrick, (born April 7, 1937), passed away Monday, August 21, 2017 due to complications related to Parkinson’s Disease. She also suffered from dementia in the final years of her life, but neither of these ailments took away the things her family most loved about her; which included her unconditional love for us, her undeniable love for God, and her always pleasant disposition, which somehow transcended the physical ailments she experienced in her later years. Sharon had many wonderful qualities. She was smart, compassionate, selfless, and very gifted musically. She served many years as accompanist at Berkley Hills Wesleyan Church, played in countless weddings and funerals and had a special knack for choosing the perfect songs for whatever the occasion might be. Sharon was also a devout follower of her Lord Jesus Christ, and her unwavering faith through all her life served as an example to everyone who knew her. Sharon was both an exceptional mother as well as grandmother to her four grandchildren. She celebrated their birthdays, attended concerts, plays, recitals, ceremonies, graduations and countless sporting events; always quietly cheering for her grandchildren, whom she could not have been more proud. She also babysat on demand, provided taxi services when called upon, and never stopped loving her grandkids in every way that she knew how. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents (Durward and Natalie Harper), husband (James Hendrick), sister (Phyllis Lichty) and daughter (Joellen Hendrick-Welty). She is survived by her son Jerry Hendrick and his wife Beth, son Dan Hendrick, four grandchildren (Ashley, Aaron, & Austin Hendrick and Jimmy Welty), extended family members and many friends, who will all miss her dearly. Visitation will be at Reyers North Valley Chapel, Thursday August 24, 2017 from 5-8pm. Funeral services will be Friday August 25, 2017 at 12pm at Berkley Hills Wesleyan Church, (1670 Ball Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505), with Rev. Kyle Brown presiding. Friends and family may pay their respects at the church from 11am until the time of the funeral on Friday. Sharon will be laid to rest next to her husband James in Blythefield Memory Gardens. Contributions in Sharon’s memory may be made to Berkley Hills Wesleyan Church.
