Sharon Lee Corbett, age 73, of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully at Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods on March 12, 2016 after a brave 17 month battle with triple negative breast cancer and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Sharon was born in the summer of 1942 in Harrisville, Michigan to the late Henry and Virginia Van Os. She grew up in White Cloud, Michigan and attended both White Cloud High School and Ferris State. Sharon spent many years working as a secretary, primarily with commercial construction companies. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, crossword puzzles, playing piano and until her cancer diagnosis monthly luncheons with former White Cloud High School classmates. Sharon was an active member of the choir at Zion Lutheran Church in Comstock Park. She was also an animal lover and enjoyed her dogs and cats. Sharon will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 47 years Jim Corbett, her children Jamie Corbett of Grand Rapids, Terri (Eric) Westerlund of North Muskegon, Todd (Marlene) Blandford of Battle Creek, and Jay Blandford of Hazel Park. She will also be deeply missed by her grandchildren Jamie Lee (Rocky) Witt, Lindsey (Michael) Beckman, Tiffany Blandford, Ashlea Blandford and several great-grandchildren. Sharon’s family would like to thank the caring staff at Lacks Cancer Center and Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods and special thanks to Pastor Julie for her comforting prayers. Visitation will be held at Reyers North Valley Chapel on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 from 6-8pm. A memorial service has been scheduled at Zion Lutheran Church (582 Lamoreaux Dr. Nw, Comstock Park, MI) on Friday, March 18, 2016 at 11am with Pastor Julie Schneider-Thomas officiating. An additional visitation will be held at church one hour prior to the service. Sharon’s final wishes were to have her cremains interred at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
