Ryan was born in Detroit on July 24th, 1942. He was a graduate of Creston High School and Davenport College. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1965, stationed during that time in Greenland.
Ryan began his career in tool and die, later working his way up into a managerial position at Irwin Seating. There he worked as a Quality Assurance Manager for 25 years. He greatly enjoyed the opportunity to represent Irwin Seating all over the world, working and living in China for two years. He had many diverse passions and hobbies including collecting, photography, travel and woodworking. Ryan continually gave back to his community through volunteerism donating over a 1,000 hours of his time to Cornerstone Helpline. In this spirit, he assumed the alter ego of "Harry the Clown" for numerous charities and events.
Ryan is survived by his wife Luci of 48 years, his children; Ryan Dodde II MD, his wife Lucy Coronado and their daughter Gabriella; Laura Peterson and her children Quinn and Sadie; David Dodde and Jennifer Elmer and his son Koen. Ryan is also survived by his Paraguayan exchange student "son" Geraldo Espinola and his children Martin and Paulina; as well as Ryan's brothers, Robert and Rex. He leaves behind countless other family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 11th from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. with service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Reyers North Valley Chapel. Private interment at Conklin Cemetery.
