Richard Dale Hendrickson

Richard Dale Hendrickson passed away February 13th at the age of 71 after many years of illness. He is preceded in death by his parents Jennie and Fred Hendrickson, as well as his siblings Tom, Jack and Nancy. He is survived by his children Alicia(Joe), Scott (Tina), and Kurt (Kelly), as well as grandchildren Alaina, Evan, Kaleb and Izak. Rick was born in Grand Rapids Michigan and joined the US Marine Corp in 1967 shortly after graduating from Creston High School. He served overseas for more than 2 years. During his service he was awarded 2 Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. He worked many years as an independent drywall contractor, learning from his father who was a plasterer. Ricks oldest son Scott took over and grew the business after Rick was injured in a scaffolding accident some 20 years ago. Rick was also a talented piano player and passed that gift onto his youngest son Kurt who now leads Sunday music at Grace Life Bible Church in Standale. Rick and longtime friend Robbi had a shared love of animals and spent many hours together driving their dogs Ewok and Radar around town. He enjoyed trivia and spending time at the American Legion posts 102 and 47. A Memorial Visitation will be held Thursday, February 21, 2019, from 5p.m. to 8 p.m. at Comstock Park American Legion #47, 3811 West River Drive NE Comstock Park, Michigan 49321. In lieu of flowers, gifts of sympathy may be made to Hospice of Michigan.
