Richard Clyde Burton, age 65, of Ada, died Friday afternoon, November 26, 2010, following a brief battle with cancer. He was born January 13, 1945 in Grandville, MI. to parents Clyde C. Burton, and the late Virginia May (Bulliment) Burton. He is survived by his lovely wife of 43 years, Susan (Bishop) Burton; two sons, Andrew Burton and his wife Shannon, grandchildren Calder, Caden, and Ila; Michael Burton and his wife Lisa, grandchildren Victoria, Clint, Virginia, and Conrad; father Clyde C. Burton; sister Betty and her husband Don Triplett.
Dick retired in 2004 from Wyoming Public Schools as a biology and science teacher. He earned his Bachelor and Master’s degrees from Western Michigan University. Dick has many accolades to his credit, from coaching the first girls' basketball team at Rogers High School to touching countless lives with his compassion and great sense of humor. Dick wrote in his memoirs his greatest accomplishment was his seven grandchildren. He was a great husband, father, friend, and the best “grandpop” in the world. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 11:00 a.m.at Reyers North Valley Chapel, with Rev. Max Bishop officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 1, 2010, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Memorial Contributions can be made to Spectrum Hospice, Humane Society of West Michigan (formally Kent Co. Humane Society), and Land Conservancy of West Michigan, with envelopes provided at the funeral home.
