MaryAnne Rewa, age 79 passed away unexpectedly on February 2, 2023. MaryAnne was born in Grand Rapids on November 21, 1943, one of three daughters born to Arthur & Anita (Sandy) Pearson. She graduated from Creston High School and was a lifelong resident of the area.
Working for GM, MaryAnne spent her career working in the upholstery department as a sewer retiring with almost 30 years of service. Always one to stay busy, she was a member of her local YMCA developing many friendships while enjoying the many classes and events offered.
MaryAnne never had children of her own, but was a beloved aunt to her six nieces and nephews. She shared their joys and gave them unconditional love, was always one of their biggest cheerleaders and she cherished them dearly.
MaryAnne was a talented crafter. Her family were frequently the recipients of her many crocheted afghans, ponchos and sweaters. She also enjoyed ceramics with her beautifully painted creations becoming favorite keepsakes.
MaryAnne loved being outdoors. Her absolute favorite place was Grand Haven. She was happiest by the water, feeling the sand in her toes and ending her day watching the stunning sunsets. She was often surrounded by good friends, especially Sam Borncamp, who she loved spending with going to movies, shopping and out to dinner.
With a soft spot for animals, MaryAnne loved to house and pet sit. It allowed her to love on many furry friends over the years.
MaryAnne was dedicated to her family and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her brother-in-law Russell Yuhas; her nieces and nephews: Angela (Darryl) Tawney, Robert (Kerrie) Van Eck, Arthur (Paula) Van Eck, Jason (Amy) Yuhas and Joshua (Tabitha) Yuhas; her great-nieces & nephews: Noah (Kenzie) Van Eck, Nicholas (Morgan) Van Eck, Jonah (Bailey) Van Eck, Benjamin (Alyssa Milton) Van Eck, Haley Tawney, Cierra (Ryan Hall) Tawney, Lauren Tawney, Sydney (Austin VanderMyde) Tawney, Connor Sullivan, Xander Yuhas, Carter Yuhas, Kyalynn Yuhas, Avalon Yuhas and Josiah Yuhas and her great-great nephews Oaklee Van Eck and soon to arrive River Van Eck.
MaryAnne was preceded in death by her sisters Bonnie Van Eck and Pamela Yuhas, her brother-in-law Robert Van Eck, her niece Darcy Sullivan and her parents.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Sunday February 19, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Reyers North Valley Chapel.
