John A. Doane

John Allen Doane, age 69, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2016. John was born in the summer of 1947 to his parents, Raymond and Juanita (Curl) Doane. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Raymond Doane Jr. and Charles Doane; sisters, Patsy Platz and Linda Doane. John will be lovingly remembered by his son, John (Michelle) Doane; daughters, April (Michael) Brooks and Melissa Corlin and Ben Brink; sisters, Marlene Bessey and Dixie (Herb) VanderKlok; grandchildren, Jordin, Aaron, Anthony, Matthew, Nicholas, Connar, Joshua, Faith, Kiya, Rayann, Alexis and Silas. Also surviving are great-grandchildren, Kaydence, Lynna and Liam; and way too many loving nieces and nephews to name all of them. John grew up in Grand Rapids and attended St. Alphonsus School until the 8th grade. He then attended Central High School where he graduated. Upon graduating from High School, John was drafted into the Vietnam War. He served his country proudly from August 1966 until June of 1968. Later in life, his favorite past time was spending quality time with his Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren whom he loved so dearly. He always looked forward to attending their sporting and school events. He was a huge Detroit Lions Fan. John made an impact on all of the lives that he touched. He will be truly missed by all that knew him. GO LIONS! A Memorial Gathering is scheduled for Friday, November 25, 2016 from 1-3 pm at Reyers North Valley Chapel.
