

Irene A. Mienko, age 91, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family on Wednesday, November 9, 2016. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward, her parents and her siblings. Irene will be greatly missed by her sons Ed (Dorothy) and Mark (Joan), her grandchildren Therese (Scott) McAllister, Janet (John) Scovel, Joseph (Nicole Murray) Mienko, John (Toni) Mienko, Maureen (Matt) Hogg, Melanie (Robert) Quist, 16 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Irene was a long time parishioner of St. Jude Catholic Church where she tended to the prayer candles. She loved going for walks and spending time with her grandchildren. Irene was often referred to as one of the original “Rosie the Riveter” girls during WWII while working in the Machine shops. She dedicated over 30 years of service to Rowe AMI International as a drill press operator. Irene will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother as well as a wonderful caregiver. Irene’s family would like to thank Holland Home for the 4 years of love and care they gave her. In accordance with her wishes, Irene’s family will be holding a private service at St. Jude Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial contribution to either Holland Home or Alzheimer’s Association.
