Fred “Pops” Ackerman, age 80 of Grand Rapids, Michigan died surrounded by family on September 17, 2022.
He was born in Grand Rapids, MI on January 1, 1942 to the late Marie & Eugene Ackerman. Fred was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary. Surviving are his sons Todd (Brandy) Ackerman and Mike Ackerman; his brother Dennis Ackerman; sister Josie Daniels, sister-in-law Janice (Gary) Hammerlund; brother-in-law Ken Little; his grandchildren: Nichole, Donavan, Michael, Schiann, Abigail and Milo, and great-grandchildren Marissa & Robby as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Fred worked at Kelvinator until their closing, followed by a career as a truck driver. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and spending summer weekends camping and taking pontoon rides on the backwaters of Hardy dam with Mary, the kids and friends.
In keeping with Fred’s wishes cremation as taken place. A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday September 27, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Reyers North Valley Chapel where a memorial service will immediately follow at 7:00 p.m.
