

Donald Edwin VerBurg, aged 89, of Grand Rapids, MI went into the loving presence of his Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 15, 2015. He is survived by his daughters Cheri (John) Bom and Joan (Roger) Elliott, nieces and nephews. He has been joyfully reunited with his wife of 63 years Thelma VerBurg, brother Harold VerBurg, sister Ana Pike, sister Elizabeth Mead, and parents Guy and Grace VerBurg, who are already in the Lords presence. Donald was born in Comstock Park, MI. He served in the 1st Armored Division, 6th Armored Infantry in WWII from 1943-1946. After returning to Grand Rapids he worked for Rapistan, was supervisor of the wood plant at Luxury Furniture Company, and superintendent of manufacturing at Irwin Seating Company. Donald enjoyed many interests including boating, camping, gardening and designing and making wood toys. He was involved in many different ministries in the church and was a very devoted husband and father. A Memorial Service celebrating Donald’s life will be held at Reyers North Valley Chapel on Friday, August 21, 2015 at 11am with an hour of visitation prior to the service.
