David Seymour Vos, Sr. 87, of Grand Rapids, went to be with his Lord and Savior early Friday morning, March 11th, 2011 during a short stay at Metron of Lamont Nursing Facility. He was born April 13th, 1923 in Muskegon, MI and was the son of the late John & Eunice (Lieffers) Vos. David proudly and faithfully served his country during WWII with the Army Air Corps where he served overseas as a meteorologist. David and his wife were charter members at Trinity Baptist Church, where he also served many years as the youth director. David served on the board of RBC Ministries. He enjoyed playing golf, tennis, softball, painting and traveling. During his lifetime David worked as a builder, business owner, realtor, nursing home executive and most importantly always putting family first. David is survived by his loving and caring wife of 67 years Jacquelyn Marie (Waalkes) Vos; his six children, David (Diana) Vos, Jan (Steve) Brower, Steve (Paula) Vos, Dan (Barb) Vos, Joan (Chris) Spanding, and Karin (Eric) Peterson; 17 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren; a brother Vern (Ruth) Vos; a sister Sharlene DeBlaay. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Lois Rosema. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, March 15th, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, 2050 Aberdeen N.E., Grand Rapids, with Rev. Brett Boomsma and Rev. Steve Brower officiating. Memorial Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. till the time of service Tuesday at the church. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Youth Department of Trinity Baptist Church. Arrangements have been placed into the care and trust of Reyers North Valley Chapel.
