Cynthia Elaine Shipaila, aged 68, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, February 2, 2013. Cynthia loved her independence, but did not like to be alone, she enjoyed planting flowers and watching them bloom. Things that made her happy, were holidays with family and friends, and cooking. She loved to eat and go shopping. As times got worse, she loved to do her crosswords, although she would always ask for help. She enjoyed watching television, especially murder mystery and reality shows.
Surviving are her sons Scott (Alisha) Shipaila, Brian Shipaila, Craig (Carri) Shipaila, Chris (Angie) Shipaila, brother Chuck (Gale) Compton, sister Carolyn Maikowski, grandchildren Brandon, Joshua, Ashley, Marshall, Cameron, Jacob, Craig Jr., Austin as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and Cousins. Cynthia was preceded in death by her beloved Husband of 31 years, Jim Shipaila, her parents Carlos Compton, John and Cecelia Klekotka, and brother Carl Compton.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at St Jude Catholic Church, 1120 4 Mile Rd NE, Grand Rapids, Michigan with Rev. Tom Page officiating. You may greet her family for visitation on Friday at Reyers North Valley Chapel from 2-4 and again from 6-8 pm. One hour of additional visitation at St. Jude Catholic Church on Saturday from 10 am until the service at 11 am.
A special thanks to Alisha Merwin, cousin Noreen and Mary Jo for all the extra help they gave the family in assisting with Cynthia's care, to make her life more comfortable, and for helping make her bucket list come true.
