After almost 47 years of battling cancer, Charlene Marie Baranowski passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at the age of 66. Char was born on February 13, 1951 in Danbury, Connecticut to the late Frank and Jean Moshier. She grew up in many states along the East Coast and came to Grand Rapids in her teens. She loved to volunteer in the community, run with her running buddies, take trips with family members to various places and casinos, and visit NASCAR tracks whenever she could. Throughout her entire journey, Char remained a brave, iron-willed woman, even throughout her final days. Char is survived by her children, Emily (Emma) Baranowski and James (Dave) Baranowski; one grandson, Karsyn Crosby; her sisters Joann Henrick, Gwen (Mark) Kulak, and Tracy Moshier; her brother, Wayne Moshier; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Reyers North Valley Chapel on Thursday, August 24 from 4pm until 7 pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11am on Friday August 25 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church (2275 Diamond Ave NE; Grand Rapids, MI 49505). Friends and Family may pay their respects at the church from 10am until the time of the Funeral Mass. A luncheon will immediately follow. The family would like to especially thank all of the staff at Hospice of West Michigan as well as Faith Hospice for taking such great care of Char during her final months.
