Dave,Chad ,Kris and Sam:
I would like to say "Thank you", to you Dave for coming into my work last week and telling me about Carol's passing.
To all of you I am so sorry , Carol was such a upbeat person and wonderful neighbor. I enjoyed stopping over and having great talks with her. 
Even with all her health issues Carol never complained and just always had a smile on her face.
When you two moved away  from Deli we talked once in a while, but it was never the same without  the Shooks across the street from us. 
My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you and Carol did leave a great footprint in many people's lives.
  Dave please call or stop on over to the house ,I hope you still have our phone number. Bring Sam with you, we would love  to see her,I think last time we saw her she was like 3/4 years old.

I was deeply saddened to learn of Carol's passing.  Though that sadness was lessened thinking of how she always lived and enjoyed her life to the fullest !! Such an inspiration !!  Carol was an extremely kind and giving person.  She will be truly missed!!
My heart goes out to Krisandra, Chad & Dave.

Chad and Kris - I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your mom.  She was always so nice when we were kids.  My heart goes out to you.

Dave, Kris, and Chad,
We are shocked and very sad to learn of Carol's passing. Though we have been separated by miles for many years, Dave, you and Carol have touched our lives for the better. When you and Carol came to Lancaster a strong friendship was forged that is still strong. We have so many good memories of time spent with you and Carol. Over the years exchanging emails, notes, and phone calls, we tried to keep up on what was going on with our families. There were trips to visit, too, although now it seems like not nearly enough of them.
As health problems kept creeping up for Carol, we have all been inspired by her upbeat spirit and how she did not dwell on her problems.  Carol and Denny were a lot alike in that way! Carol was a woman of such strength! That strength displayed her love of life and love for her family. We will always remember Carol's giggles! It didn't take much to bring them on, either. Remembering one of our visits to Michigan, we will never forget the dune buggy ride and how Carol insisted she could get in one. She didn't give any thought, though, as to how she would get out of it! And laughing made it that much harder. 
Then there was the time when Carol's vision was failing, but we women were going to go shopping and she offered to drive us, with the warning that her family would not drive with her, so it was up to us. We didn't take her up on that offer!
Carol saw everything in an optimistic way. With her bubbly demeanor you would never know all the problems she endured. Courageous, selfless, resilient, determined, caring. All of these words describe Carol. But another word is friend. Carol was a dear, dear friend, who we will miss. But she, and you Dave, have left us with wonderful, heartfelt memories that will always remind us of Carol and the friendship with both of you.
Please know that even though we cannot be there with you, you are in our hearts at this time. We pray for strength and comfort as you go through these next weeks, months, and years.

To the Shook family:

While reading the GR Press obits this morning I was saddened to see that Carol Shook had passed away. I met her and her husband Dave while on my job at Mercy Health, 3 Lacks. I would clean Mrs. Shook's room every day. She and her husband were the nicest, most down-to-earth people I've had the pleasure of meeting in some time. During one conversation with the Shooks, I mentioned a health issue my wife was having. A couple times after that, the Shooks inquired as to how my wife was doing. I found that to be so thoughtful and kind. Please accept my heartfelt condolences.
