Betty was born on April 16, 1943, to Joe and Pearl (Bursma) Lowe. On June 24, 1961, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, George. They were so proud to celebrate 60 years of marriage just prior to George’s passing on August 29, 2021. Betty loved spending time with her family! She was blessed to have siblings for her best friends.
As a young adult, Betty proudly supported George as he attended Michigan State University by working at Michigan Bell as a phone operator, and going on to earn her own Bachelor’s degree from GVSU. Betty spent her 22-year career as a Marketing Manager for Breton Village. After retiring, George and Betty became official snowbirds – flocking south to Florida each winter and be with relatives.
In her free time, Betty loved shopping! She had a beautiful outfit for every occasion. She was known for her love of jewelry, make-up, long nails, and beautiful hair. She and George loved attending Michigan State games, bike riding and skiing whenever they were able. They loved to travel to Colorado, Mexico, Florida and California. She was very proud to host her extended family and friends each 4th of July for an annual reunion.
Betty’s family describes her as stylish, fun, smart and loyal. Betty will be missed by all who knew her. Her family finds comfort knowing Betty is once again with George.
Betty is survived by her son, Jeff, her daughter Amy, son-in-law Rich; her seven granddaughters: Sasha, Kaela, Bekah, Nekodah, Alyssa, Sienna and Evalyn; her three great-grandkids: Reuben, Rory and Rosie; her siblings: Judy, Mick, Toni, Pat and their dear spouses Cindy, Bill, and Bridget; her brother & sister-in-law Jim and Judy, their spouses Carolyn and Russ,; many nieces and nephews, and one very special niece, Audrey Olthof who was very dear to her.
