Barbara Jean Smith, 89 of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully, Thursday July 2, 2020. Born in Grand Rapids on June 3, 1931 to Alexander(Regina) Plachecki. United in marriage on June 19, 1954 at St. Adalbert Church to Thomas F. Smith.Survived by husband of 66 years Thomas Smith, Children; Tami (John) Todd, Gary (Bonnie) Smith, Craig (Carol) Smith. Grandchildren; Jason, Brian, Jessica, Jennifer, Kelly, Connor, Great Grandchildren; Peyton, Addison, Madeline, Colt and Indy. Also survived by sister Lois Jarvis and sisters in law Lorraine Plachecki, Barb Plachecki and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.Preceded in death by parents; Alexander (Regina) Plachecki, brother Norman Plachecki and brother Roger Plachecki. Barbara was dedicated to her family. She also loved to travel. Barb was an member of the Greenridge Country Club. She was involved in the Elks and other social activities. Barb loved to golf and was very active in the Dental Auxillary. She will be deeply missed.Visitation will be held Monday July 6, 2020 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Reyers North Valley Chapel Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Church, 2275 Diamond Ave NE, Grand Rapids, Michigan, with Visitation at 10 a.m until the time of Mass at 11 a.m. Msgr. Lou Stasker will officiate.Burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery. The family would like to thank Kathy from Faith Hospice and Porter Hills for their excellent care.
