At an early age William's mother moved the family to Boston, MA after the death of her husband during WW II.
William was reared by his mother and Grandmother. He was educated in the Boston, MA and Cleveland OH public school system. He continued his education at Emerson College and Northeastern University, Boston in the studies of Journalism and Drama.
In 1970, William fondly known as "Bubba" became the first black News/Sport Report for Boston 7, WHDH. He was also, owner of "This Sporting Life", a weekly publication in the Boston area.
He brought joy to all those with whom he came in contact. He was a friend to all.
William heard the call of God and accepted Christ as his personal Savior. He was later ordained as an Elder in the Church of God in Christ under the late Bishop J. Howard Dell.
He served as Chief Adjutant for the late Bishop Dell, Atlanta, GA. Upon moving to San Diego, CA he served Bishop George Dallas McKinney as Chief Adjutant for many years. He also served as Chief of Security for Southern California Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction. He was also part of the National Adjutancy and National Security Team for the Church of God in Christ.
In 2005 William was appointed by Bishop McKinney to serve as Interim Pastor of the Saints Home Church of God in Christ, Los Angeles, CA and was officially installed as Pastor in 2006. In 2009 he organized the J. Howard Dell District and became Superintendent. He alone with his wife served until 2013. Saint's Home Church of God in Christ is the first established COGIC church on the west coast. Many churches were birthed through what has become known as the Mother Church.
Upon relocating to Arlington, TX William united with Prayer Tower Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Supt. Roger D. Eiland. During this time he was working to assist with training of the Adjutant Brothers and Sisters for the newly organized Texas Northeast Metropolitan Jurisdiction.
William was called from labor to rest on Wednesday January 13, 2016 in Arlington, TX.
He was preceded in death by his father William Henry Johnson, Sr.; mother Sarah Ruth Schlossbery; sister Carolyn Traylor Peterson and son Dond Johnson.
He leaves to mourn his passing and rejoice in his homegoing.

Helton, San Francisco, CA, Regina Walls (Leo), Hammond, LA and Mavis Ard, Arlington, TX; two nieces Desiree R. Bailey (Alton), Warrensville, OH and Monique Jenkins (David), Cleveland, OH; great-nieces Cachet Johnson, Chaira Williams, Artia Hill, Capriss Roberts, Devonia Hicks and Marsheri Jenkins; two great nephews David Jenkins, Jr.and Deon Hicks; great-great niece, MaKenzie Lewis (''Baby Girl'') who held a special place in his heart; and a host of other great nieces, nephews, cousins; family and friends.
