Richard grew up in Texarkana and graduated from Arkansas High School in 1967. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Arkansas. He worked at ShowCo, concert electrical, and set up the first home computer store in Dallas. Later he was an oil engineer with Baker Hughes Oil before retiring in 2014.
After a friend from the airport played matchmaker he soon found himself in love and married to Jennifer on October 19, 1991. He held a private pilot's license and a Ham radio license. He enjoyed weather, history, space and model railroads. He loved to garden and could grow anything. He was a gourmet cook with a high IQ. Richard was smart but never saw himself better than those around him, he was compassionate and friendly.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Lois Martin.
Richard is survived by his wife, Jennifer; siblings, Ronald Glenn Martin (Sally), Diana Marie Burke, Gary Breck Martin (Sheryl); mother-in-law, Bess Ware; sister-in-law, Sharon Standard; brother-in-law, Tommy Reed; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also his fur-babies; Trouble, Mr. Gray, Alex and Fearless.
A visitation for Richard will be held Wednesday, February 12, 2020 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Grand Prairie Funeral Home, 733 Dalworth Street, Grand Prairie, TX 75050.
A funeral service will take place Thursday, February 13, 2020 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Funeral Home.
A graveside service will follow, at 1:00 PM at Grandview Cemetery, Highway 4 and CR 401, Grandview, TX 76050.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Richard's name to Prairie Paws, 2222 W.Warrior Trail, Grand Prairie, TX 75052.
