Rae Jean attended Grand Prairie High School where she met James L Reed. The two were married on June 7, 1958 and spent 43 years in love. Rae Jean enjoyed reading, playing bingo and spending time with her family. She was an awesome mother, taking on both role of nurturer and disciplinarian. She was loving and giving, willing to do anything for her family and friends.
Rae Jean and James were members of the Elks Lodge. Rae Jean enjoyed participating in the Elk events with James and was very involved in the ladies BPOE Doe's group. When they weren't with the Elk's they were spending time at their weekend home in Hubbard, Texas. Starting by building it as a family. The project took around 3 years to complete then became their private escape.
Rae Jean is survived by children: Joan Reed, Jim Reed and his wife, Starla, Angela Whitten and her husband, Darren; grandchildren: James Reed and his wife, Jill, Andrew Reed and his wife, Melanie, Amber Moore Reed, Grace Reed, Nikki Stewart and her husband, James, Miranda Whitten, Ryan Whitten; great-grandchildren: Faith Reed, Tyler Reed, Madison Reed and Jesse Stewart and several nieces and nephews.
Rae Jean was preceded in death by her parents: James Roland Garrison and Elizabeth Alberts Garrison; siblings: Doris Jean Garrison, Bobby Jo Garrison, L.B. Garrison, Buddy Garrison, Donald Garrison, Gus Garrison; grandchildren: Stuart Keith Reed and Taylor Whitten.
A time for visiting with the family of Rae will be held Thursday, September 3, 2020 from 10:00am to 11:00am at Grand Prairie Funeral Home, 733 Dalworth Street, Grand Prairie, TX 75050. Funeral service will follow on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at 11:00am.
Graveside service will occur Thursday, September 3, 2020 at 1:00pm at DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mt. Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211.
