With much sympathy we regret to announce the passing of our loved one, Phyllis Jean Adkins Roe. Although this is a very sad time for us it is Heaven's gain, and she is with her father J.B. Adkins. Phyllis was born October 23, 1952 in Dallas, TX to John B Adkins and Mary Brown Adkins. She was preceded by both sets of grandparents and father John B. Adkins and several family members. Phyllis traveled extensively throughout her life, due to her father’s line of work. Phyllis often described Hawaii as her favorite place ever, a second home, and would travel back there as often as possible. As everyone knows, Phyllis was a Christian and a free spirit. Phyllis was a great country western dancer and loved music. She was a wonderful snow and water skier. Phyllis enjoyed the pines and lakes of East Texas and being outdoors, whether it was going to the beach or going camping. Phyllis loved animals, her cats Pono, Sponky, BJ, Lally, Sweet Pea, her horse Appaloosa who was her “star girl” and most of all her adopted best friend in East Texas. Above all Phyllis did love the Lord with all her heart.
She worked for many years; Chase Bank for 10 years, Placid Oil for 18 years, IRS for 3 years and Real Estate for 7 years. Phyllis held a degree in Business Administration. Phyllis is survived by her mother Mary Jo Brown Adkins, her husband and love of her life Alan Roe. Best friend and sister in Christ Rebecca Guinn, god-son Jeffrey Guinn and many cousins.
Phyllis Jean Adkins Roe went to be with the Lord on April 9, 2012. A graveside service was held for Phyllis in Ennis, TX.
