

Peggy Ann Poage passed peacefully from this life in Augusta, GA on October 24, 2023, at the age of 86. She was born Peggy Ann Sluder to Edward and Myrtle Sluder in Valley View, Texas on February 01,1937. She had recently relocated to Aiken, SC to be closer to her son and daughter-in-law.
Peggy was a long-time resident of Grand Prairie, graduating from Grand Prairie High (Class of ’56), and working at the Uptown Theater at an early age. She started her career at LTV, and later retired from Dallas Baptist University. She enjoyed membership in the Grand Prairie Women’s Club, the Rejebian Book club, and volunteering at First Baptist church, where she was an active member. She was also a member of the Grand Prairie Historical Organization.
Peggy is survived by her son, Jim (Rhonda) of Aiken SC, Granddaughters Christina Mock (Travis) and Jessica Gentry (Chris) from Pensacola FL; Granddaughter Sarah Klassen (Zach) from Virginia Beach VA; her brother Bill Sluder of Grand Prairie TX, as well as nine great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Poage of Grand Prairie, as well as four of her sisters and one brother.
A visitation will be held at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home, 2951 S. Beltline Road, Grand Prairie, Texas, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, November 2nd. A burial will take place at DFW National Cemetery on Friday, November 3rd at 10:00 am. A funeral service will follow at the Funeral Home, after the burial, on Friday, November 3rd at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice.
