Ora “Lucille” Ohlhausen was born on October 18, 1935, in Waco, Texas, to a young couple named Randy and Ora Willingham. Lucille was their first child. During her youth they lived in various places throughout the USA as they raised her and her younger sister, Ilene.
In 1953 she met her husband to be, Thomas “Tommie Lee” Ohlhausen, in Abilene, Texas. After a short courtship they were married on November 25, 1953. They traveled the world while her husband was in the Air Force. They were stationed in Africa where their first daughter Debbie was born, then to Virginia where their second daughter Eddie was born, and later to Alaska where their 2 youngest daughters Cindy and Karen were born. Lucille always said that Eddie, who was born in Virginia, was her only foreign daughter because she was the only one born in the continent of the United States. After 20 years of marriage Lucille became a single mother and she dedicated her life to raising her daughters.
For many years she worked at K-Mart, and later at R-Tech where she retired at the age of 60.
After retiring she lived at the Blessing Residence Retirement Community in Bedford, Texas and there she made many dear friends. Before moving to Bedford, she lived with her daughter Karen for several years and built a special relationship with Karen’s 2 youngest daughters, Caitlin and Hanna.
August 6, 2015 was an exceedingly difficult time for Lucille as her grandson Kevin Pratz died in a tragic auto accident.
Shopping was her favorite pastime. At the age of 50 she participated in several charity bike-a-thons and was always there for her friends in their time of need. She was a member of the Airport Freeway Church of Christ since 1974 and was a faithful member until the time of her death.
Lucille has 4 surviving daughters, Karen Sewell and husband Robbie of Bedford, Eddie Pratz and husband Ric of Houston, Debbie Martin and husband Bruce of Whitney, and Cindy Way of Green Bay, Wisconsin. And her beloved and longtime friend, Grace Milne. Lucille was blessed with 15 beautiful grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
On Monday, September 14, 2020 the angels came and took her home to be with Jesus.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Randy and Ora Willingham, her grandson Kevin Pratz, and her sister Ileen Scott. Her body will be laid to rest beside her parents and sister at the Rose Hill cemetery in Merkel, Texas on Saturday, September 19, 2020.
