Mary Jo McGinn passed away on Sunday, March 1st at the age of 85. She was born in Sayre, Oklahoma on June 22, 1934 to George Jiles Benton and Vesta Mae Benton. She married Donald Ray McGinn on November 21, 1952 at the age of 18. They lived in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida while Don was in the Air Force and she worked as a bookkeeper. They then returned to Oklahoma and eventually moved to Grand Prairie. They had two children and Mary Jo became a stay-at-home mom. She loved her family and took joy in raising her kids. She was a seamstress and loved making clothes, curtains, and Halloween costumes. Mary Jo and Don were married for 49 years until his death in November, 2001. Mary Jo has been active in the Grand Prairie Women's Club, Red Hats, and especially enjoyed volunteering for Kids INC (Kids in Need of Clothing).
Mary Jo is survived by her son, Robert McGinn (Kathy) and daughter Donna Huprich (Steven), grandchildren Matthew McGinn (Shay), Kevin McGinn (Laura), Mary Christina Huprich and Katherine Huprich, a brother, Bob (Dede), and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
A celebration of Mary Jo's life will be held Friday, March 6th at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Grand Prairie.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to Kids INC (2341 Belt Line Road, Grand Prairie, TX 75052) or the charity of your choice.
