Marshall “Don” Butler went to be with his Lord on January 18, 2014. He was born in Big Spring, TX on May 17, 1933 to T.W Butler and Flora Mae Butler.Marshall grew up in Big Spring and graduated from high school May 28, 1951. On June 17, 1951 he moved to Grand Prairie to live with his mother and met Gertrude. A day after he got into town, he and Lillian had their first date. Unfortunately the next day he moved back to Big Spring to work for the summer but returned in the fall to attend SMU on a scholarship. At SMU he played in the band and graduated with an associate’s degree.In 1952 he became a member of First Baptist Church of Grand Prairie where he was involved in Sunday school and played in the orchestra. He was also an usher for First Baptist for over 30 years and involved in the Small Town Band. Marshall was also a Mason in Grand Prairie since 1957.On August 28, 1954 after dating for several years Marshall and Gertrude were married. He entered the Air Force in 1953 where he served for 4 years. After the Air Force he returned to the transportation industry and remained in Grand Prairie.He is survived by his wife Lillian Gertrude Butler, sisters Brenda Myzska and Frances Butler.
