Marion June Cato, 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 12, 2018 at her home in Grand Prairie. She was born at her home in the country between Grand Prairie and Arlington on June 10, 1927 to Cliff and Essie Dewberry.
Her early years were spent on a farm, five miles south of Waxahachie. In her teen years, her family moved to Grand Prairie, where she would attend high school, marry, raise her children and make cherished friends. She worked for most of her adult life as a secretary at TXI Structural Products, Inc. She was a very capable woman and an avid reader. She passed her love of reading to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was “Memaw” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren and she loved having her family around her. Her family knew that her door would always be open, her refrigerator and pantry would always be stocked and the closet would be full of toys for the kids. She would drop everything else when anyone came for a visit.
She was a born again Christian and made sure that her children were exposed to Bible teaching. She saw both children, all her grandchildren and 3 of her great grandchildren accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. In adversity, she became her strongest; a role model for her friends and family. In summary, a life well-lived.
Marion was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Cato; parents, Cliff and Essie Dewberry; brother, Ercy Dewberry and sister, Louise Kropff.
She is survived by her son, Glenn Cato and wife, Gail; daughter, Carol East and husband, Bobby; Grandchildren: Courtney and Eric Bertrand, Chris and Jamie Cato, Matt and Molly Dooley and Rachel Dooley; Great grandchildren: Kennedy and Briggs Bertrand, Sloan and Jude Cato, and three foster great grandchildren along with numerous family and friends who will miss her dearly.
Until we see you in heaven, Memaw!
Visitation will be Monday, Oct. 15, 2018 at Bean Massey Burge from 6-8pm. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2018, at First Baptist Church in Grand Prairie at 10am.
