Lucy was a loving and devoted daughter to Robert and Ruth (Tince) Krebbs to whom she was born on October 31,1936, in Folsom, Oklahoma. She married her lifelong love Ed Mauldin December 21, 1953. She was a loving and supportive wife, mother, and grandmother who was proud of her heritage as a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. She joyfully enrolled her children and grandchildren as members of the Nation to help discover their ancestry and culture. Lucy enjoyed sharing stories of her childhood on the farm in Oklahoma. She loved children, the outdoors, and helping people. She was a faithful Christian who served as the director of the nursery at Inglewood Baptist Church for close to two decades. She also ran a daycare in her home for roughly fifteen years.
Lucy never met a stranger. She was friendly, helpful, and talkative by nature. She worked at Piggly Wiggly for a short time before becoming a teller at a bank near her home in Grand Prairie. She worked at the bank so long it changed names three times before she retired in the 1990’s when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. She had such a gregarious personality that most people who lived in Grand Prairie knew her by name. She always gave bubble gum to children who came to the bank with their parents, including a young girl who would later become her daughter-in law. She was clever and a shrewd negotiator who loved to get a good deal.
Lucy was preceded in death by her son Allen Mauldin; daughter Donna Bush; beloved husband Ed; brothers Boyd, Wayne, and Denver; and sister Shirley Brown.
She is survived by her son Denny (Teri) Mauldin and son-in law Joe Bush; grandchildren, Cavin (Tessa) Taylor, Marcus (Alexis) Taylor, Amanda (Cole) Murray, and Emily Mauldin; step-grandchildren Mandy (Gabe) Bush, Reese (Ashley) Bush; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held for Lucy on Fri., October 11, 2024, from 4-5 PM for family and 5-8 PM for friends at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral home, 2951 S. Beltline Rd., Grand Prairie, TX.
