Larry was born on May 30, 1951 in Fitchburg, MA to Frank Wassell and Anne Cymbalak Wassell. He graduated from Middletown Ohio High School in 1969 and earned his Associates in Electrical Engineering Technology from the ITT Technical Institute in Indianapolis, Indiana. He moved to Texas in 1977. This is where he met his wife, Bernice Smith and the two were married on August 4, 1984.
Larry worked as an Electronic Technician for 42 years. He was a member of the Central Bible Church of Fort Worth and the Arlington Sportsman's Club.
Larry was outgoing, friendly, always ready to help others, and loved to tell a joke. He was an outdoorsman, incredibly smart, and he could repair just about anything. Larry came to faith in Christ as an adult and was devoted to his Lord and Savior. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. During his eight year battle with Lymphoma, the hospital nurses often said that they enjoyed taking care of Larry because he was so kind and considerate. Humor and his belief in God’s faithfulness and goodness helped Larry cope with cancer and other adversities in his life. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, but we look forward to a sweet reunion in Heaven.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, David Wassell.
Larry is survived by his wife, Bernice R. Wassell; daughter, Jennifer Peterson and husband, Marco; son, L. Michael Wassell, Jr. and wife, Josabet; 3 grandchildren; brother-in-law, Raymond Smith and wife, Debbie; sister-in-law, Martha Smith; brother-in-law, James Smith and wife, Laura; sister-in-law, Ella Smith and fiancé, Robert Folsom; and nieces and nephews and their families.
