Jack Eugene Pruitt, Sr. was born on 3.29.1939 in Fort Worth, Texas. He was adopted by his loving parents Vera and Howard Pruitt when he was only 3 days old. He grew up in the Poly area of Fort Worth and went to Poly High School. He was drafted into the Army and was stationed for a time in Germany. He often spoke of the good times he spent in the Army and the beauty of Germany itself.
He met Sandra Robinson and they married on 4.1.1968. They had two children, a son, Jack Jr. and a daughter, Angela. For many years he worked at LTV in Grand Prairie in the maintenance department as a dispatcher. He and his family lived for a few years in Grand Prairie and eventually settled in Arlington, where they stayed for many years. He was able to retire early with his wife and this enabled them to help raise their grandson, Layne.
In 2011, they relocated to Crowley to live with their daughter Angela. He was an avid fan of the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys. Football games and baseball games were fun to watch with Jack due to all the cheering (and swearing). He loved to go to casinos when he could to play the slots. He also liked to go the Lonestar Park to watch the horse races. He was a collector of sports cards and spent a while doing ball card and sports memorabilia shows. He loved spending time with his family, including the dogs, Maggie, Pippin, Tyson, Mallie and Zila.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Sandra, his parents Vera and Howard, his half-brother Winford, and his mother-in-law Angie Robinson. He is survived by his son Jack Jr. and his wife Robbin, daughter Angela, grandson Layne and great grandson Beaux, his brother-in-law Harold, his niece Mandie and her husband Matt, great-nieces Makayla, Jacqueline, and Alyssa.
