She was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. John A. Thomas Sr.; parents, E.H. Wyche and Ruby Batchell Wyche; brothers, Cyril Wyche and Richard Wyche, as well as nieces, Frances Amundsen and Peggy Jones.
Frances graduated from Lakewood NJ High School and the Englewood School of Nursing in Englewood, NJ. She served as an RN in various hospitals for over 30 years and as a hospital volunteer for 25 years. She was also very proud to be an Army Officer's wife for over 20 years.Frances was a caretaker by spirit and a proud and independent women, who maintained her sense of humor and a clear mind to the end of her life. She led an interesting and full life. As a teenager, she was an eyewitness to the Hindenburg dirigible disaster in Lakehurst, NJ. As a young women she visited in the home and met the famous aviator Charles Lindbergh. Frances, as an adult, moved frequently with her army family to seven states and to Germany. She moved to Texas four years ago, after living in Arkansas for the previous 54 years.
Frances is survived by three sons and their wives, John A. (Jack) Thomas, Jr. and wife Marilyn of Grand Prairie, TX, Richard D. (Dick) Thomas and wife Linda of Russellville, AR, Barry J. Thomas and wife Elaine of Colleyville, TX; five grandchildren, Tracy Dougherty of Marion, AR, Terri Evans and husband Mark of Little Rock, AR, Jason Thomas and wife Wendy of Lake Highlands, TX, Corey Thomas of Lewisville, TX, Jamie Haussecker and husband Matt of Fort Worth, TX; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be June 2, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home Belt Line Road, Grand Prairie, TX. She will be interred at the Little Rock National Cemetery with her beloved husband.
