Dovie A. Clark, age 75, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2021. She was born on July 24, 1945 in Lexington, Tennessee to U. V. Moody and Golden Ardell Moody. She married her longtime love, Jimmy Lee Clark on July 25, 1963 who preceded her in death August 2010.
Dovie was a homemaker and a childcare provider for many years. She was a member of the Grand Prairie Day Care Association where she met lifelong friends who she enjoyed getting together with and going on trips with, which all included tons of laughter and joyful memories. Dovie was also a member of the Lakeview Baptist Church in Grand Prairie, TX for several years before being diagnosed with Dementia and Parkinson’s disease.
Dovie will be remembered by many as a woman who kept an immaculate house, made the best sweet tea and never left the house without her hair done, lipstick on and smelling nice, which was usually White Diamonds. She enjoyed spending time with her family, visiting with her friends and having an occasional glass of wine or a Pina colada, her favorite. She was warm and caring like the warm sun on a beautiful spring day, but feisty like a flaming hot Cheeto! She had no problem giving you her opinion whether you wanted to hear it or not! But of all the things she loved in this world, her grandchildren and daycare children were what she adored the most! She was loving and warm, but firm when she needed to be, which wasn’t very often when it came to her grandchildren!
She will be remembered for her love of music, dancing, gardening (tomatoes and okra was her thing), her rose bushes, shopping (lots of shopping) and her homemade wine, which her children and their friends secretly loved very much!! Dovie will also be remembered for her determination and relentlessness; like the time she had her son drive her in an ice storm (because no one else would) to Kmart so she could shop the seventy-five percent off jewelry sale they had going on. Needless to say, she made it there and back alive and received some really great deals on quite a bit of jewelry. There was also the time she held up the grocery store line because she was determined to get her twenty-five cents back on that item she had been over charged on! Yes, she was a frugal woman clipping her coupons and making sure she got the best deals; and if loved ones needed help with food or household supplies, there was always Mom’s Grocery Pantry, which she kept stocked at all times.
All those who loved and knew her well will never forget her warmness, feistiness, determination, strong-will, grace (when pertinent) and the undying love she had for each of them.
Dovie will be sorely missed. She is survived by her brothers Alfred Moody, James Moody and Jerry Moody; her children: David Lee Clark and Mary Ann Gast; her grandchildren: Jeromy, Travis, Alyssa, Whitney, Jennifer and Alan; and her great grandchildren: Heaven, Elijah, Rylie, Izzianna, Paizlynn and Noah.
