Baylor Hospital in Irving, Texas attended by his loving wife of 62
years, Verna Karen Dornbluth Bargsley and his youngest son, Andrew Paul
Bargsley. Clyde was born October 7, 1935 to Bertie and Lewis Bargsley in
Eastland, Texas. He was a dedicated, proud resident of Grand Prairie,
Texas for 75+ years where he held various offices in church and civil
organizations. He was a member of St. Andrew’s Anglican-Episcopal
Church for 50 years, held office in the Grand Prairie Historical
Society, and was a former member of Rotary International, as well as the
Texas Association of Assessing Officers.
Clyde attended Grand Prairie High School and graduated in 1953. He
continued reuniting with fellow classmates through this year. Clyde
served in the Air National Guard Reserve for 5 years before meeting his
beautiful wife, Verna, at a social event at St. Andrew’s Church. He
attended Southern Methodist University and earned a B.A. in Business. He
worked his way through college while working as City of Grand Prairie
Tax Assessor then as Property Tax Consultant.
Clyde joyfully supported Performing Arts and often attended plays,
musicals, and symphonies. He loved Shakespeare in the Park, Van Cliburn
performances, art exhibits, and all performances at Bass Hall. He
turned his hobby of refinishing antiques into a small business that he
shared with his youngest son Andrew. Most of all he loved his church.
St. Andrew’s is where he was married, and where he baptized and
confirmed all of his children.
Clyde is survived by his wife, Verna whom he adored; eldest son, Carl;
twins Andrew Bargsley and Andrea Vincent; sister-in-law Nella Carol
Dornbluth; nephew Tommy Wright; nieces Sarah O’Connell, Rachel Howe, and
Rebecca Howe; many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Clyde left this earth to join Our Heavenly Father knowing that he had
done his best to love, serve, and celebrate the many blessings he had
been given. He enjoyed many lifelong friends, classmates, and member of
his church family. He cherished them all.
