MEMORIAL - He left us quietly and without hoopla or fanfare. Upon reflection, it was quite befitting his gentle nature; this faithful yet humble servant of God. Visitation will be at Bean Massey Burge Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 28, 2016 with a private burial at the DFW National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Born January 18, 1934 to Sam and Nell Cumby, Calvin Thomas "Buck" Cumby was the youngest of three siblings. He served in the Navy and retired from the elevator industry after 45 years.
In 1960, he married Gertrude Hulen and together they started their family in Lubbock, then moved to San Angelo, where they spent many happy years before returning to Grand Prairie. He enjoyed 43 years of fellowship at Calvary Baptist Church.
His character was one of quiet integrity and simply honesty. He was steady and reliable in every sense. The added bonus was the ever-present twinkle in his blue eyes and his joyful spirit which brought happiness to those around him.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Bonnie and Nell.
