Beverly Marie Bowen, 89, passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Baylor-Grapevine Medical Center, where she had been since June 8, 2012. Her funeral will take place on Tuesday, July 10, at 2:00 P.M. at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home Chapel, 2951 S. Belt Line Road, Grand Prairie, with Rev. Ross Sawyers officiating. A reception to celebrate her life will immediately follow the service. Visitation will be Monday, July 9, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be private. Beverly was born in Flint, Michigan on December 18, 1922, to Leonard McClain and Elsie Gushen. She lived in Bridgeport, Michigan until 1967 when she relocated to Grand Prairie, Texas with her husband, Edward Bowen, and her six children. The things that gave her the most enjoyment in life, were her husband, children and grandchildren. She always felt taking care of her family was the most important and gratifying thing in her life. She also had a passion for dancing, especially square dancing, which she enjoyed up until her later years. She was preceded in death by her children’s father John Gelles, her husband, Edward Bowen, her sister, Bernita Bilczewski of Naples, FL, her brother, Gerald McClain of Southfield, MI, her grandson, Matthew Carrick of Bay City, MI and an infant daughter, Linda Marie Gelles. She is survived by her children, Terri (Ron) Carrick of Bay City, MI, Jonalee (Will) Lambert of West Monroe, LA, Jack (Pam) Gelles of Grand Prairie, TX, Dale Gelles of Salt Lake City, UT, Marta (Jimmy) Marshall of Frisco, TX and Keith (Karen) Gelles of Colleyville, TX; six grandchildren, Shana Holland, Brittany Gelles, Kevin Inman, Megan Gelles, Kristen Gelles and Kale Gelles; and one great granddaughter, Shelby Holland. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, and extended family members and friends. She will be greatly missed by all of us who love her.
