Albert E. Brown, 94, a long-time resident of Grand Prairie, Texas passed away on November 25, 2013. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 2, 2013 at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home, 2951 S. Beltline Road, Grand Prairie, Texas. Born February 18, 1919 at home on the family farm near Bonham in Fannin County, Texas, he was the son of James and Grace Brown. Albert was raised in Fannin County where he met and married his wife, Virginia, also of Fannin County, on October 11, 1941. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. After training duty, he was stationed in the Pacific Theatre and assigned to the 504th Air Battalion on Tinian Island when the war ended. Soon after returning to Texas, Albert began a civilian career with the U.S. Department of Defense, Contract Administration Services, Southwest Region, until retiring in 1981. He then proceeded to a second career as Quality Assurance Engineer with Rediffusion Simulation, a U.K. company, manufacturing flight simulators. For many years, Albert was an active member and Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church, Grand Prairie where he was ordained as a deacon in 1968. He was also a mason with the Sam R. Hamilton Lodge of Grand Prairie. He is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife of over 72 years, Virginia L. Brown; two sons, Alan D. Brown and wife, Janice; Curtis L. Brown and wife, Keith; fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and ten nephews and nieces.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, 2222 Welborn Street, Dallas, Texas 75219.
