William C. "Bill" McCune, passed peacefully at home, into the arms of Jesus, Saturday, February 7, 2015.
He was born in Fountain, Colorado to George F. and Irene Meredith McCune. The eldest of eleven
children. He grew up in the Woodland Park area, and at the age of sixteen his family moved to the Grand
Valley, where he graduated from Central High School in 1950.
He married the love of his life, and best friend, Naomia O. "Dolly" Gibson on March 17, 1951.
He was inducted into the U.S. Army in July of 1951, serving active duty during the Korean conflict, and an
additional 22 years in the Army National Guard. He retired from the Military in 1974.
Bill worked for Sperber Construction for over thirty years, and became owner operator of Bill McCune
Construction, working even into his eighties. He was a true master of the art of finish carpentry, a
perfectionist, he took pride in all that he built.
Bill was very active in church throughout his life. Serving as a worship leader, board member, donating
countless hours to God's work, building, and repairing churches. Most recently a greeter, at Victory Life
Church.
Some of his favorite times were spent water skiing, and boating, in earlier years. Four wheeling, through
the Colorado Mountains, reading all types of books, singing, and fishing with his boys, and grandchildren.
And, most importantly, sharing the love of the Lord. His generosity, and kindness, will be greatly missed.
Bill is survived by his wife, Dolly McCune, his children, Richard (Susan) McCune, Teresa (Michael)
Creech, Brett (Monica) McCune, and Craig (Veronica) McCune, fourteen grandchildren, and seventeen
great-grandchildren, His brothers, Frank McCune, John (Nancy) McCune, Phil (Peggy) McCune, Mike
(Laurie) McCune, and sisters, Martha (Daniel) DeCaussin, and Gloria (Norman) Sproles.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Martin Mortuary. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 13, 2015 at Victory Life Church.
