Wayne Kibel, age 78, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2024, after a prolonged illness. He was lovingly cared for by his son, Roy Lee Kibel, and close friend, John Champagne, and was surrounded by family as he went to his Heavenly Father's care.
Wayne was born on October 9, 1946, in Goodland, Kansas, to Ross Conard Kibel and Ruth Irene Smith Kibel. He attended school in Dove Creek, Colorado, and furthered his education at a trade school in Delta, Colorado. In 1969, he married the love of his life, Dorothy Carter, in Grand Junction, Colorado. Together, they had two sons, Roy Lee Kibel and Joseph Lynn Kibel.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Ruth Kibel, and three brothers: Dale, David, and Tony Kibel. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, his sons Roy Lee and Joseph, and four brothers: Gerald, Ross, Gary, and Larry Kibel. He is also survived by six sisters: Ruby Shore, Phyllis Burch, Darlene Davis, Hazel Prusse, Ruth Elaine Wassemiller, and Verna Meyer, along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Wayne had a deep love for the outdoors, particularly hunting with his brothers and extended family in Colorado. He also spent many years working alongside his brothers in the outfitting and guide business in Silverton. After retiring from his career in the public school system, Wayne enjoyed crafting fish ties in his spare time, a hobby that brought him much joy.
A celebration of Wayne's life will be held at a later date.
