Wayne was born in Grand Junction, Colorado on May 15, 1941 and raised in Palisade, Colorado. He graduated from Palisade High School with the Class of 1959. After serving four years in the US Army, he dedicated his life to teaching math and science in School District 51, inspiring countless students at both West Jr. High and Fruita Monument High Schools.
Wayne loved sports and outdoor activities. He was an avid fan of the Colorado teams - Broncos, Avalanche and Rockies. He enjoyed playing racquetball, mountain climbing Colorado 14ers, fishing, and snowmobiling with friends and family at their cabin in Arrowhead, near Cimmaron, Colorado.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Carol. Wayne was also a proud father and grandfather. He leaves behind his son Patrick Flick, his wife Brenda, their children, Sabrina, Brenrick and Ralen; his daughter Pam McGaugh, her husband Jim and his daughter Megan; his daughter Teri Key, her husband Clayton, their children, Gunner, Greyson, Gaitlyn, and Griffin; and his son, Troy Flick, his wife Heather, their children Kolton and Kassidy. Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Homer, his mother Callie, his sister Doralyn, and his grandchild, Shawn.
