Susan was born on January 21, 1950 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Peter and Marie Smith. She graduated from St. Louis Park High School in 1968 and attended a year at Southwest Minnesota State College. She married Duane C. Wittwer September 28, 1974. Duane worked at Xcel Energy and when he came to hook up her parent’s gas dryer they met and that night he called her mother to see if she was available, and as they say, the rest is history. During her life Susan worked as a teller, secretary and homemaker. Over 5 years the couple welcomed 3 children into their home. She treasured raising her kids. Her children remember her as a loving, caring, comforting and joyful Mother, who encouraged them in everything they did.
As newlyweds Susan and Duane loved hiking, camping and traveling. They spent time as a young family at the ball fields where Susan loved score keeping and cheering on her kids. In recent years she enjoyed spending time camping with her husband and exploring the beautiful outdoors of Colorado and Utah in their side by side. Susan was a kind, loving individual who adored her family and spending time spoiling her grandkids. Her hobbies were reading, crafting, crocheting, cooking, baking, watching Halllmark movies, loving her country and having long talks with friends over coffee.
Susan is preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Marie Smith and her grandparents, May and Lee Heir.
