Rodney was raised on a farm in Box Creek, Utah. There was always lots of work to do on a farm. He worked hard milking cows by hand, hauling hay, picking potatoes, and herding sheep and cattle. He did whatever needed to be done.
The family sold the farm in 1959. This was a real adjustment for Rodney. He decided to join the navy and served four years. He served on the aircraft carrier, the USS Yorktown. He was able to see a lot of the world while he was in the service.
He married his first wife, Denia, in 1972, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They were married nearly 25 years. They traveled together and he took very good care of her, especially after she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. He later married his second wife, Linda.
Rodney loved the mountains. He loved fishing and hiking with his dog.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Linda, his sister and brother-in-law Clea (Bill) Robertson, and a brother Kent. As well as his two wives, Denia and Linda. He is survived by his brother Kirk (Donna), and one sister Rozanne (Ray) Crane. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
