Robert Earnest Payne

Robert Earnest Payne, age 55, of Grand Junction, Colorado passed away on Friday, April 11, 2025. Robert was born April 7, 1970, to William and Dena Payne in Richmond, MO. He spent his growing years in Lexington, MO, New Castle, CO, and Grand Junction, CO. Robert married Melinda Gaylord in August 1995 and they welcomed their son Harley to the family in December 1996. He so much enjoyed the outdoors fishing and hunting, watching wildlife in their natural habitat. He also had a love of wolves and Harley Davidson motorcycles. He liked joking around and getting people to smile with his sassy personality. His most enjoyable and fulfilling job was as the Firearms salesperson at Sports Authority in Glenwood Springs. Robert also took great pride in caring for his father-in-law with dementia for 4 years. He passed away April 11, 2025, just 4 days after his 55th birthday in Grand Junction, CO. Robert was preceded in death by his mom, dad, brother William Allen, and sister Janet. He is survived by his wife and son, brother Brad and sisters Debbie, Ronda, Valerie, Lisa, Josephine, and Kim. Services will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Glenwood Springs, CO Saturday October 4, 2025 @ 11:00 am.
