Robert Cutler Case, Jr. was born on June 26, 1949 in Oakland, California to Robert Cutler Case and Beverly Hocking Case. He died on December 26, 2024, of cancer, at HopeWest’s Ferris Care Center. Bob grew up in Leawood, Kansas. After graduating from Pembroke Country Day School in Kansas City, Missouri, he continued his studies at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California and at the University of Kansas, in Lawrence, Kansas.
Bob was an accomplished pedal steel guitar player and played on the road throughout the Midwest with the Billy Spears Band for several years, playing not only pedal steel, but also banjo, and acoustic guitar. He landed in Boulder, Colorado, where he played with Dusty Drapes and the Dusters and other bands.
Bob and his wife, Lisa, ran a successful home inspection business for 20 years in Broomfield, Colorado. Upon retirement in 2017, they moved to Grand Junction. Bob’s passion for music led him to play with various musicians in the Grand Junction area. He also taught pedal steel guitar lessons to several students.
Golf was Bob’s other passion and he found his home away from home at Lincoln Park.
Bob was predeceased by his parents and his brother, John. His survivors include his wife of 30 years, Lisa; daughter Rosie Case in Longmont, Colorado and her two children, Dazmine and Jayden; daughter Julia Graddy (Mark) in Grand Junction and their two children, Paxton and Axyl; brother Steven Case (Deborah Garnett) in Overland Park, Kansas; and several nieces and nephews.
