Ralph was born on September 22, 1927 in Grand Junction from the union of P.W. and Fay Martin. He spent his childhood in Denver, Colorado and graduated from West High. He later attended Emily Griffith Trade Center where he obtained his Welding Degree.
He joined the Merchant Marines on July 24, 1945, and was honorably discharged on April 9, 1947. He met Katheryn Markley on April 1, 1950, it was love at first sight, they later married on June 4, 1950 in Grand Junction, She preceded him in death on June 4, 2018 in Grand Junction.
Ralph was a Welder and Shop Foreman for the Colorado State Highway Department.
He enjoyed spending time at his Grand Mesa Cabin, traveling, hunting and fishing.
Ralph leaves behind a son, Ray Martin of Aurora, Colorado, a daughter, Diane (Jim) Dittrick of Grand Junction, Colorado, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren to cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by two siblings and one great granddaughter.
A funeral service will be held at 8:00 AM, Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Martin Mortuary followed by a committal service at 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 13, 2021 at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado.
