Our precious mother, Pat Ruth Ormsby, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening September 7th 2022 at La Villa Grande nursing home. Pat was receiving hospice care through Hope West during the last 2 weeks of her life. Pat left this earth in loving comfort, after a peaceful day with her son, Gary Ormsby. Pat loved, and was loved by, everyone who knew her.
Pat was born in Mineola, TX in January of 1929. She lived in many places including Mineola, TX; UT as well as Delta, Montrose, Nathrop and Grand Junction, CO.
Pat married Vernon Ormsby Jr. in 1952. They had 5 wonderful children. Pat and Vern separated in the early 60s.
At a young age, Pat moved to Delta, where she graduated from Delta High School. Pat finished her Cosmetology Degree at Western Slope Beauty College in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Pat loved Cosmetology, but later decided to chase her true passion, which was to help children. Pat then decided to change her profession in the early 70s and became a professional licensed Day Care Mother. Throughout her 40 + years as a Day Care Mother she helped raise hundreds of children.
Pat’s hobbies included gardening (she loved flowers and plants), spending time with her family and talking on the phone with her sisters.
Pat is survived by her sons Mike, Gary Rod, Eric (Rick) and her daughter Bonita. Pat also leaves behind 13 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren along with Sister Rene Hoffman and Pat’s sister Billie Starkovich as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, September 12th, 2022 at Martin Mortuary 550 North Ave. Grand Junction, CO. A viewing will be at 10:00 am with a service at 11:00 am.
Stories and memories of her life will be shared at the service.
Pat’s burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 2970 North Avenue, Grand Junction, Colorado 81504 at 1:00 pm.
